Unlike traditional amalgam fillings that are made of a metal mixture containing 50% mercury, white dental fillings are comprised of a ceramic and plastic compound, known as composite resin.
Applied in layers, the composite resin is dried with a special light that ensures proper drying and hardening of the different layers. Because resins mimic the appearance of natural teeth, these fillings blend right in. They also bond well to enamel, which helps preserve the maximum amount of the tooth structure.
